Sixth Annual Bethesda Row Arts Festival
October 18 & 19, 2003

Nationally Recognized Fine Arts & Crafts Show Benefits Komen Race for the Cure®

BETHESDA, MD - Connoisseurs of fine art and crafts are invited to enjoy the Sixth Annual Bethesda Row Arts Festival, in the heart of Bethesda's Arts and Entertainment District, on Saturday, October 18th from 11 am - 8 pm and Sunday, October 19th, from 10 am - 5 pm. Admission is free.

A juried event, the nationally recognized Bethesda Row Arts Festival is expected to attract 35,000 attendees and was recognized by Sunshine Artist magazine as one of the top 200 fine art shows in the United States.

The Festival, underwritten by Federal Realty Investment Trust, features the work of 250 leading artists and crafters from the Mid-Atlantic and around the country. On display, will be the finest in ceramics, drawings, fabrics, glass, graphics, jewelry, metalwork, paintings, pastels, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood and mixed media.

The Festival also features delicious food, a children's arts & crafts area and live music and entertainment.

The Festival benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Komen Race for the Cure®.

The Bethesda Row Arts Festival is located outdoors on Bethesda Row (Woodmont and Bethesda Avenues and Elm Street). Within easy walking distance of the Bethesda Metro station, it is a quick, 15-minute hop from downtown Washington D.C. Numerous public parking garages are conveniently located around the site. For out of town visitors, Bethesda Row is convenient to the Bethesda Hyatt Regency, Bethesda Residence Inn, and the Bethesda Court Hotel.

Bethesda Row is a sensory delight. Visitors to this designated arts and entertainment district enjoy superb restaurants and upscale shopping.

A popular dining and gathering place, Bethesda Row covers five city blocks and features more than 50 fine shops and restaurants, and an eight-screen movie theater. Low-rise, retail and office buildings create a very pleasing, human-scale, town-center feel. The architecture is eclectic, ranging from art deco to southwest to postmodern in style.

Attractive cobblestone sidewalks, wooden and wrought-iron benches, trees and shrubbery round out the welcoming atmosphere of Bethesda Row, the recipient of three prestigious awards in 2002 - The Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence, The Congress for New Urbanism Charter Award and The Washington Smart Growth Alliance Recognition Award.

Bethesda Row is owned and managed by Federal Realty Investment Trust, a Rockville, Maryland based equity real estate investment trust (REIT). An industry leader for more than 40 years, Federal Realty specializes in the ownership, management, development and re-development of shopping centers and retail properties across the country. Shares of Federal Realty are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol: FRT.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Komen Race for the Cure® is the largest series of 5K run/fitness walks in the world with more than 100 Races and 1.5 million people expected to participate in 2003.
